Iakov N. Rudenko, M.D./Ph.D., a board-certified adult neurologist, graduated magna cum laude (awarded with gold medal) from one of the best medical schools in Russia - Military Medical Academy S.M. Kirov (Saint Petersburg, Russia) in 2004. In 2019 he finished adult neurology residency training at Stony Brook University Hospital (Stony Brook, New York) - one of the top teaching hospitals in the US that was recently ranked #41 in the United States in Neurology and Neurosurgery by U.S. News and World Report. During the training Dr. Rudenko had gained expertise in diagnostics and management of headaches, strokes, epilepsy, neuropathies, dementia, Parkinson's disease and other neurological disorders. Since graduation from residency Dr. Rudenko has been working as an inpatient neurologist at UPMC Western Maryland hospital where he has been successfully treating many acute neurological disorders including strokes, brain bleeds, seizures, brain infections, etc. In addition to clinical practice in neurology, Dr. Iakov N. Rudenko has an extensive research experience in the field of neuroscience. After medical school Dr. Rudenko studied olfaction (sense of smell) at I.P. Pavlov Physiology Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Saint Petersburg, Russia) that resulted in earning his Ph.D. degree in 2007. From 2008 to 2015 Iakov N. Rudenko, M.D./Ph.D., had studied neurodegenerative mechanisms of Parkinson's disease at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) (Bethesda, MD) - world’s leading biomedical research organization. During residency training Dr. Rudenko was a Co-Investigator in clinical trials focusing on beneficial effects of neuroprotectors in acute ischemic stroke. Dr. Rudenko is highly rated for his excellent communication skills and his outstanding rapport with patients.
